how to stand up for yourself: the talking dog tutorial

princedumbball:

image

say someone says something offensive to you!! whoa. whoa friend. that makes you scared. or uncomfortable. or angry!! don’t back down!! don’t run away. don’t scream at them for it, don’t let it slide either. here’s what to do:

image

now, once of two things will happen here!! the person will either get very angry, or accept that they were in the wrong and move on. either way you have done your best!!!

image

people who pick on you usually do so because they think you won’t fight back, or actually want to start a argument for the hell of it!! don’t get physical, dn’t let them get you mad enough to snap. calmly and firmly inform them that what they have just said is not okay.

image

if they don’t apologize, just do not associate with them!! you have nothing to lose by not being friends with someone who doesn’t value you enough to be nice to you.

image

nothing will be solved by using rude words, slus, sexist, racist or queerphobic languge against the person you are arguing with!! avoid all ableist language, keep things relatively polite and just generally try not to come off like a douchebag!!woof bark.

skylar really hopes that helps you guys!! this was requested by one of skylar’s followers. it’s not very in depth, but it’s the basic rules skylar keeps in mind while sticking up for herself and others!!!

AND REMEMBER: THE FINAL STEP.

image

PEE!! if you really cannot get this person, pee all over them and all that they love. pee all over everything. pee on them, pee on their face, pee on their new suede shoes, pee on thei nice new carpet, their drapes, their sack lunch, their x-box 360. pee until your bladder is like a shriveled, deflated balloon used for far too many children’s parties without retirement. only then will your thirt for revenge be satisfied. that’s what skylar would do!! woof bark

Best Advice.

This probably shouldn’t be on my main blog but whoops now it is.

So happy you like it! :D I hope this is not to off putting but it looks like your work as an artist for a game company. THIS IS MY DREAM JOB! I'm looking for some general advice if you can share.

I really got lucky with the work i’m currently doing so i’m not sure what advice I can give. But here goes. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ general advice powers activate!

Essentially the bigger the internet footprint you can make the more likely someone will find you. Find art/games/coding forums and put up a portfolio in the employment or portfolio sections. Basically think of any place a dev might go looking for an artists and make sure you have a portfolio there! Don’t worry about the quality of your work compared to other artists either, because 1 your art is great and 2 devs are often looking for things you don’t expect.

Learning non art skills to do with gaming is also very useful, especially for indie game development, where the teams are usually very small. Having none art skills means you can offer feedback outside of your own expertise, which is very valuable. I was certainly not the best artist my boss contact, nor the cheapest! but I was able to offer a lot in terms of design feedback, both thematically and mechanically, which proved to be more valuable then raw talent. (though I still have plenty of that too! ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ)

Game devs are also gamers themselves and want people who are part of that culture. If you’re interested in game making then you’re probably already there, but I figured it was worth mention as it can be a very simple if not invisible barrier. I would also look at game theory, bringing a unique viewpoint to the table is always very helpful, or at very least shows that you’re capable of thinking more deeply into a specific topic. Don’t force your opinion onto anybody, but have one to share if need be.

Give rev rants shot for the latter, they are full of swears but genuinely interesting.

Or Extra Credit for a more polite viewpoint.

One last note, be careful! try to not do things on faith unless you really trust the person.

That’s just about it in terms of advice.

Hope I helped!

solatrus:

One of a set of songs I’m composing for a video game. It’s turning out to be a really fun project so far!

Hrmmm, I wonder what game this could be for! :3
